About Philology studies were part of the University curriculum from the very beginning in the year 1570 of the Jesuits College. For the moment, humanities and linguistics are the highest ranked field of studies and research of Vilnius University in International QS Ranking. We put ourselves entirely to fulfil our mission to educate philologists of wide erudition that have general university education, are able to work in innovative ways and that meet current requirements raised for graduates of humanities.

Institutes After merging Vilnius University Faculty of Philology and Institute of Foreign Languages in September of 2017, the restructured Faculty of Philology consists of five institutes uniting all the academic staff according to their research fields.
