CIM (Computer-Integrated Manufacturing)- technology for all manufacturing operations to make be best product possible. *5 ASPECTS 1. Conception 2. Design/Development 3. Production 4. Marketing 5. Product Support

SITE SELECTION- the process of locating the optimal production site Facilities Layout- the floor plan of the building to maximize production Materials-handling system- the network that receives, stores, and movers materials between processing points within a factory.

TYPES OF LAYOUTS PRODUCT- groups equipment and staff based on the various steps involved in producing a product. PROCESS- groups equipment and staff that perform similar functions. FIXED-POSITION- when a product is too large to move and remains in one place.

11.2 JOB DESIGN & PLANNING of individuals is supposed to perform. JOB DESIGN- describes the work an individual or group of individuals is supposed to perform. JOB CHARACTERISTICS: Skill variety Task identity Task significance Autonomy Feedback
