Review and Audit Review of optometrist referrals/ notifications for PEARS/ WEHE Enable snapshot of services and inform peer review OOs send an anonymous copy of referrals, reports and GP notifications 3 weeks- Monday 3rd of October 2011 - Friday 21st October 2011 Will review communication, information, legibility (if handwritten)

Peer review learning Most effective educational tool for changing clinical practice in primary care is peer review case discussions 11 venues throughout Wales – 100 case discussion sessions in Jan/ Feb 2012 Facilitated by trained optometrists Each PEARS/ WEHE optometrist will do 1.5 hours (in 1st round) in groups of 6

Electronic referral To implement internet services and communication software in 3 optometry practices to enable the electronic transfer of referrals to secondary care ophthalmology, efficiently, safely and securely Proof of concept pilot Broadband internet aggregator and Welsh Clinical Communications Gateway (WCCG) system
