The Father of Lies Genesis 3:1-5

Satan is the “Father of Lies” (Jn. 8:44) The most deceptive lies are the ones that sound the most like the truth Satan leads the whole world astray (Rev. 12:9) Satan will try to use the same deceptions on you that he used on Eve

Deception #1: Doubt God’s Goodness, and Think Negatively about God

Genesis 2:16 “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden…”

Deception #2: Deny God’s Truthfulness, and Think Skeptically about God

4 Substitutes for the Truth Relativism – There are no absolutes Subjectivism – We all have our own truth Rationalism – Truth must be observed or proved Post-Modernism – There is no truth

Deception #3: Defy God’s Righteousness, and Think Carelessly about God

God is righteous; God is holy; God will judge sin Law without penalty is only advice – God doesn’t give advice Satan’s deceptions can be seen today in “New Age” Religion

Deception #4: Discredit God’s Goodness, and Think Suspiciously about God

We often hear that “Experience” is the best teacher – Wrong! Satan tempted Eve by telling her she would be “like God” We don’t become more like God by doing what He tells us NOT to do

Revelation 12:11 “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”

The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, cleanses us from all sin We should never be ashamed to testify about the Lord Jesus Christ (Mark 8:38) We should love Jesus more than we love our own lives

JESUS is the way, the TRUTH and the life… The TRUTH will set you FREE If the SON sets you free, you will be FREE indeed!
