What is an anecdote? -An anecdote is a brief personal story that is usually humorous What is the purpose of an anecdote? -To involve the audience (get them interested) -To clarify- make a point more easily understood -To amuse or inform

Introduction Anecdotes -to gain the reader’s attention -to entertain the reader; gain their interest -relevant (having a connection) stories to the topic

What Should be Included? The main event in the anecdote When/Where did the event occur…as specific as possible Who was involved in the event Any important details that will improve the story Usually written in chronological order Descriptive language that you COULD use that would make the anecdote entertaining and amusing—Smiley Face Tricks!
