Presentation transcript:

Press Print Tiles Press printing can be a messy process so it is important to get all your materials together before you begin. Materials needed Glass slab/shiny card Printing ink (choice of colours) Ink roller Newspaper Cloths Protective clothing Disposable gloves (optional) Printing paper Gather all the materials together and remember to wear protective clothing.

Method/Tips About 4 cm of ink should be squeezed onto the glass slab and the roller is rolled along the surface of the glass until this looks tacky, showing a textured pattern.

The inked up roller is rolled onto the polystyrene tile covering the total surface. Place your paper down on the table and place the tile directly onto the paper. Try to put each backing newsprint into the bin in between prints and handle your print carefully at the edges. Method/Tips

When printing, remove rings etc. They can scratch the print leaving unwanted marks. A spoon can be used on the back of the print paper when attached to the tile to burnish and make sure all edges are in contact with the paper and give a better print.

Here you can see the design of a guitar starting to be developed on the polystyrene tile.

Press Print Tile Final Design Discuss how this design may be scanned into the computer and used in the final design as well as any other designs or patterns.
