Pan-Arab Electricity Market League of Arab States took the initiative to establish a Pan-Arab Electricity Market. A study was made by the World Bank about this subject. The General Agreement to establish the Pan-Arab Electricity Market was completed in 2015, and agreed upon by the Arab Countries. The Memorandum of Understanding ( MOU) of the Market was signed by 12 Arab Electricity Ministers in Cairo last April. More efforts are required to reach the final target.

Why Interconnection is not Utilized Probably 1- No Pan-Arab Electricity Market 2- Interconnection is not taken into consideration during planning stage. 3- Weak interconnection between some countries. 4- No synchronize interconnection between Turkey – Syria and Iraq. 5- Lack of enough generation capacity in some countries especially in summer . 6- weak political well behind exchange of energy.
