7-4: Inverse Trig

Inverse Trig: To undo a trig function, you use the inverse of that function. To access the inverse functions press 2nd and SIN, COS, or TAN.

Find each angle measure. Round to the nearest tenth. sin A = .098 tan B = 1 cos C = 0.5 tan D = 0.9934

Find x.

Find x.

Brandon and Donnie have a 20 ft. extension ladder Brandon and Donnie have a 20 ft. extension ladder. They place the base of the ladder 5 ft. from the building. There is a warning on the ladder that says the angle of elevation the ladder makes with the ground should be between 60° and 80°. Is the placement of Brandon and Donnie’s ladder safe?

A plane flying at an altitude of 30,000 feet begins its decent 2 miles (ground distance) away from the runway. At what angle of depression should the plane be descending?
