تعريف علم نانو مواد تعريف نانو فناوری مطالعه پدیده ها و دستکاری مواد در مقیاس اتمی و مولکولی که در این مقیاس کوچک خصوصیات مواد با ویژگی هایشان در مقیاس بزرگ متفاوت است. تعريف نانو فناوری طراحی، شناسایی، توليد و کاربرد ساختارها، طرحها و سامانه ها با استفاده از کنترل شکل و اندازه مواد در مقیاس نانو.

تقسیم بندی نانو مواد نانو مواد صفر بعدی (نانو ذرات فلزی و یا سرامیکی) نانو مواد یک بعدی (نانو لوله ها، فیبرها، نانو میله ها...) نانو مواد دو بعدی (لایه های نازک با ضخامت کمتر از 100 نانومتر) نانو مواد سه بعدی (مواد نانو کریستال، نانو کامپوزيت های زمینه فلزی، سرامیکی و پلیمری) R.W.
