What’s your PIRATE Story?

With your randomly selected group members, choose the following: Task Master THE CAPTAIN (one who leads) Recorder THE FIRST MATE (one who writes) Reporter QUARTERMASTER (one who talks) Step 1

Captain, describe to your team the behaviors you want from ALL members Captain, describe to your team the behaviors you want from ALL members. (Encouraging, of course, cooperation and respect to and from all shipmates.) Once everyone is in cooperative mode, take suggestions for names for your pirate ship. Since you are the CAPTAIN, you get to choose from amid the suggestions. You may decide to create your own ship name. Here are a few known names of pirate ships. Step 2

Real or “Generated” – You decide! The Jolly Roger The Bloodthirsty Atlantis Queen Anne’s Revenge The Poisoned Plague The Rude Secret Fancy CSSS Alabama The Liberty Rift The Last Disgrace Whydah The King The Red Horror Adventure Galley Royal Fortune Real or “Generated” – You decide!

FIRST MATE, take down the names of all pirates on your ship FIRST MATE, take down the names of all pirates on your ship. Eliminate all duplicate names. Have each student read what they written about their character. Though the recorder is taking notes regarding all pirates on the ship, all shipmates should be listening. You do NOT want to be called out by me, your CAPTAIN, or either Quartermaster or First Mate as a POWDER MONKEY!!! (That’s the guy on the ship who has the most dangerous job loading the cannons with gun powder. He’s usually the kid, and usually mistreated!) Step 3

Create a ship roster. Use the names of the pirates and give them titles. (There are some on the handout you’ve been given.) This is all you can do today! Turn it in to your BIN! Step 4
