The Banyan Chennai, Tamilnadu. Banyan has developed a model of care, treatment and rehabilitation that not only tackles the problem of providing shelter and medical care to mentally ill destitute women, but also contributes to their restoration to a normal social and family environment and instills in them courage and hope to lead productive lives.

In the past 10 years - rehabilitation of over 700 women, Currently 400 women are being looked after at banyan.

The Banyan has a store that has the products of the Vocational training unit for sale.

Medical attention, daily activities, vocational training and recreation are all scheduled appropriately. Every activity is based on a therapy.

Asha is working on vocational skills to integrate the women back to the society.

Vocational skills – helps inmates build their confidence, helps them to earn a living and forms an important part of their treatment as 'Occupational therapy'.

The vision of The Banyan is to ensure that no mentally ill homeless person is left uncared and unattended for in the streets.
