Secondary math 2 10.1 - Area

Warm up: Which one doesn’t belong? WHY?

What you will learn I will be able to calculate the area for any triangle, quadrilateral, or regular polygon.

Areas of basic shapes

What about these shapes? Parallelogram

What about these shapes? Trapezoid

What about these shapes? Circle

Practice Problems (name the shape and find it’s area)

Regular Polygons examples What do they have in common? Regular Polygons are: Equilateral (all sides the same) Equiangular (all angles are the same)

Areas of regular Polygons 6 8

Practice

Areas of regular Polygons part 2 6 8

Practice

When you’ve finished your HW Grab a ‘net’ diagram from the front table. Calculate the area for each side of the shape. Write the total area inside one of the shapes. Color your shape! (Make it crazy!) Cut out your shape. Fold it together. Tape your shape together.
