Plum Pudding Model

Plum Pudding Model J. J. Thomson proved the existence of electrons in atoms. Electrons are negatively charged particles. He proposed the Plum pudding model for atoms in 1904.

Plum Pudding Model He imagined atoms as solid positively charged spheres with negatively charged electrons spread throughout like plum pudding, or like a blueberry muffin.

Plum pudding Model What does charge do?

Plum Pudding Model You will be conducting experiments with balloons to prove the existence of charged particles, like electrons.

Plum pudding model Instructions Rub the balloon on a lab members head. Make table in your notebook, and make observations of how the balloon reacts with the following items.

Plum pudding Model Item Observation Hair Wall Running water Salt Pepper Small piece of tissue paper Paper Clip

Plum pudding model Why do you suppose you observed some of your observations with the balloon?
