2018 SATs Changes More rigorous than 2015 Raw scores Range of scaled score:80 to 120 Scaled score-expected standard 100 Greater depth- 110 scaled score 2016 saw the abolition of Levels and the first test based on the new curriculum. More rigorous- changes to the Maths paper, quick recall, no calculators New marking and grading system- tests are both set and marked externally teacher assessment-Writing

Calculating raw scores The raw scores for each test are calculated by adding the scores from each paper for a subject.

Range of scaled scores The range of scaled scores available for each KS2 test is the same as 2016 and is intended to stay the same in future years. 80 is the lowest scaled score that can be awarded and 120 is the highest scaled score.

Expected Standard Pupils scoring at least a scaled score of 100 will have met the expected standard of the test. A pupil awarded a scaled score of 99 or below has not met the expected standard in the test.

Reading 26/50 GD 39/50 Grammar 36/70 Maths 57-61/110. GD 95-97

GPS: Sample Questions Reading test 1hour to read booklet and answer 33 questions , long answers, one /two words, selected answers. This question assesses understanding of modal verbs to indicate degrees of possibility. 45 mins to answer 46 questions 2700/46 approx 58 sec per question

Sample Questions: Arithmetic Answer these questions, you have 2 minutes: 1097-100= 29,347+64,210= 4/5 x 5/6= 8 divided by 6/9= 8+96 divided by 2= 30 min to answer 36 questions ( 1800sec) 50 seconds per questions. Answer 1242

Arithmetic- how well did you do? Answer these questions, you have 2 minutes: 1097-100= 997 29,347+64,210= 93,557 4/5 x 5/6= 20/30 OR 2/3 8 divided by 6/9= 6/72 OR 1/12 8 + 96 divided by 2= 56 (division first) 30 min to answer 36 questions ( 1800sec) 50 seconds per questions. Answer 1242

Sample Questions: Maths Paper 2 Reasoning- 1mark question Time given 12x20 =£2.40 +15p = £2.55

Sample Questions: Maths 2 mark question Tests knowledge of fractions, X and subtraction. 150 pages

Reading Have a look at both the reading paper and question book 3 texts, 39 questions 1 hour in total- reading and answering Mixture of questions- inference, retrieval, 30 min to answer 36 questions ( 1800sec) 50 seconds per questions. Answer 1242

How to best support your child Ensure your child: attends school every day completes their home learning reads every day practise Maths every day Explains their learning to you knows the key facts has a quite space to study gets enough rest
