Safety On the Roads Traffic Monitoring

Main Issues Complaints about excessive speeds on local roads has led to Michels Safety implementing a “MONITORING PLAN” THIS MONITORING PLAN implements 4 key areas. 1. Cell phone use while operating a motor vehicle 2. Seat belt usage 3. Speeding 4. Inattentive drivers traveling through our construction zones

Corrective Actions We are monitoring speeds along the roadways which are near or leading to the Right of Way with a hand held radar and video surveillance Traffic speed along with details of the vehicle and location are being documented on the Texas Creek and Wellsboro Pink projects.

Daily Observations, Pictures, and Video of compliant and noncompliant traffic are all recorded on a spreadsheet: Location Vehicle ID/Description Additional Notes Miles per hour Date and Time Seatbelt usage When it comes to a Violation of Policies the individual is either disciplined accordingly and or terminated from the project

Collaborative Effort We have been communicating with Shell’s Road Transport Safety personnel on a regular basis to improve the relationship between Shell’s contractors and the public Michels believes this type of communication and cooperation goes hand in hand with Shell’s twelve Life-Saving Rules

Statistical Information There has been 351 vehicles that have been documented so far since we implemented this program in September Out of the 351 vehicles 20% were Michels employees totaling 72 vehicles Out of the 351 documented vehicles 75 were exceeding the speed limit set by Shell Out of the 75 vehicles speeding 12% were Michels employees totaling 9 vehicles
