Welcome to Ms. Fox’s classroom

Grading Policy: to communicate student achievement to students, parents, school administrators We are continuing to implement the grading policy established by the Board. Domain 1: Academic Mastery Grades are based on summative evidence that the student has learned the curriculum standards which include the state standards.

Academic Grades A: thoroughly understands the basic content, and can deeply apply and analyze that knowledge B: knows basic content, but beginning to be able to apply that knowledge C: knows the basic content (this is at standard/proficient level) I: MUST have a retake for any summative assessment

Grading Policy (continued): Domain II: Academic Work Habits On time to class; completes work on time Prepared for class; attentive, engaged in learning Works toward achieving individual and group goals Demonstrates courtesy and respect in the learning environment E – Always or usually meets behavior expectations; S – Usually meets behavior expectations with few reminders; U – Often fails to meet expectations even with reminders

Grading Policy (continued): Domain III: Citizenship Teachers will use the “Citizenship” grade to communicate to the student and parents how well the student is meeting behavior expectations of each class. The following grading rubric shall apply: E – Always or usually meets behavior expectations; S – Usually meets behavior expectations with few reminders; U – Often fails to meet expectations even with reminders

Retake policy Retakes will be offered on any SUMMATIVE assessment. Formative assessments are designed to let me and the student know what needs to be reviewed. No late work or retakes. For all retakes, students must complete a “Retake Contract.” The contract will define the retake work and the three week time frame required for completion

Math 3: Pre-algebra, Geometry, algebra, statistics are all covered Homework almost every day! Quizzes throughout the chapter to check understanding

Activities of successful students: Always have a reading book (novel) Keep all work and notes in a journal Check daily emails or website for homework Keep Science/Math Journal up to date! Absent? Check website and get the work completed for when you return.

How can you help your child? Check daily emails/website/planner for homework; register for homework reminders Check grades regularly online Stay on top of needed retakes Encourage your child to get involved in school activities (ASB, clubs, sports) Register for online textbooks (keep the login information handy!) Keep “emergency card” info current—that’s how you get school emails! Email me with any questions sfox@rocklinacademy.org
