MANIA Sets In Militarism Alliances Nationalism Imperialism Assassination /Spark European powers began to develop strong military forces in order to protect global interests. European powers made a series of alliances for mutual protection. Europeans developed extreme pride in their own countries/nationalities. European powers fanned out across the globe in a race to control the most territory/resources. Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated in Bosnia by a Serbian.

Cause & Effect Austria blamed Serbia for the Assassination Germany pledged their support of Austria & demanded reparations (making of amends for wrong or injury done.) Russia pledged their support of Serbia & refused Germany’s terms War Breaks Out: Point of No Return
