Learning Terminology and Differentiated Questioning Mrs Hall Flash Cards Learning Terminology and Differentiated Questioning Mrs Hall

Design and Technology…….. Like many subjects has a huge amount of terminology that needs to be learnt and confidently used within lessons and assessments. I wanted a way to teach this terminology that would allow EAL, SEND to access and understand the terminology but also allowed our MOST ABLE to be pushed in their understanding.

Step 1 – Learning terminology for the first time. Show the picture (think time) Turn over to confirm word (building confidence) “PUSH OUT” and class say the word Step 2 – Learning terminology. Show the picture (think time) “PUSH OUT” and class say the word

Embedding vocabulary and differentiated questions - Plenary Show the picture of a PROCESS (think time) “COLD CALL QUESTIONING” (Differentiated/engages all) Select a LOW ability student to tell you the name. Select a MIDDLE ability student to explain the materials that could be used in that process. Select a MIDDLE ability student to explain what could be made using that process. Select a HIGH ability student to explain the steps of the process. Select a HIGH ability student to explain Quality Assurance steps needed during that process.

Every subject has specialist vocabulary………. ………hopefully this is an idea that could be adapted to your subject.
