Literature Review Listening is a developmental process, in which listeners should be active processor of information. B.F.Skinner(1971) address that the usage of reward and reinforcement is two of the most important issue in learning process.

Literature Review Stemplesky & Tomalin(1990) looked movie not only as an important aid to teaching, but also a stimulator to the learning interests of the students.

Literature Review Movie is a kind of authentic material. The phrase “authentic material” stands for “Language(in any form) produced for the native language users only. (Haines 1995)

Literature Review Rose(2001) further compared phrases of praises within 40 English movies\TV programs with authentic materials. He concluded that the language format, topics, responding strategies within the two were very much alike with each other.

Literature Review Haines(1995) states the benefits of the authentic material as: It’s made by real English writing/speaking. 2. It’s not made to please foreign learners. 3. It’s attractive to learners. 4. It’s helpful to the learners’ actual language proficiency.

Literature Review Haines(1995) states the benefits of the authentic material as: 5. It can be used in courses of different levels e.g. Beginners: Listen to pronunciations of vocabularies/phrases and note down the sequences of what had happened in the story. Intermediate: Conclude a topic for what he had heard and answer questions related. Higher leveled: answering detailed questions and bring them to discussion.

Literature Review Therefore, tools used on teaching will be helpful when the students are being lead to a deeper and a more direct level. According to the "Cone of Experience" from Dale (1964), using videos as teaching tool is a more effective way then reading paragraphs, hearing CDs and viewing images.

Cone of Experience by Dale(1964)

Literature Review Meanwhile, the culture included within the movie produced by the natives of the target language is suggested as a helpful aid to the forming of the fifth skill(culture) of language proficiency (Zhan 2007). This fifth skill of language proficiency comes after listening, speaking, reading and writing, is suggested to be the core of language teaching when the teacher consider the target language as a social tool used on building of relationships(Herron, Dubreil, Corrie,&Cole, 2002).

Literature Review Quinlisk (2003) further states that the development of social & culture acquaintance and the ability to integration to the natives could be aided by usage of images, advertisements, TV programs, News and movies from the target language speaking countries. (In this case, American culture)
