Clackmannanshire Council – ‘The Wee County’ Tenancy and Estate Management Service Outcome 11 - Social landlords ensure that: Tenants get the information they need on how to obtain support to remain in their home; and ensure suitable support is available, including services provided directly by the landlord and by other organisations. 1

Tenancy Sustainment Strategy Single Outcome Agreement Scottish Social Housing Charter Clackmannanshire Housing Strategy 2012-17

Risk Profiling Abandonments: 10/11 11/12 12/13 51 43 39 Abandonments: Filtering of new tenancy visits – ‘risk’ groups identified: All tenants who have been offered a tenancy via homeless New tenants up to 24 years old Single males up to 36 years old All young people leaving care - also monitored through SSST procedure 3

In the beginning…. Sign-up – just give me the keys! Initial visit is the main source of information for new tenants. Assessment of support needs and possible vulnerabilities Links with partner agencies Sustainment visits

Catch Them Early! High proportion of tenancies allocated to applicants assessed as homeless failed before the New Tenancy Visit was completed Housing Support Team now deal with all homeless applicants Housing Options Homeswapper Sign-up contact

Building Happy Communities Raising awareness of acceptable conduct Consequences of breach of tenancy agreement ASB procedure recently reviewed Mediation New ways to use Acceptable Behaviour Agreements

Intensive Tenancy Management Tenants outwith risk groups may require frequent visits for a variety of reasons, eg condition of tenancy. Some tenants may fall within a risk group, but don’t need visits. Officer knowledge and judgement is key, staff training Avoid aiming for the targets and missing the point
