Lewis and Clark The journey out West

Louisiana Purchase Jefferson bought the Louisiana Purchase for $15 Million dollars. Bought it from Napoleon (France). Bought it in 1803.

The Excursion Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark and others to explore the land he had purchased. What are some important aspects of the Excursion that you remember from the video? What were some important contributions Sacagawea made to the Excursion?

Sacagawea Showed them edible plants and roots. When a boat overturned she saved their valuable items. Helped guide the excursion because she was familiar with Shoshone area. Interpreter Reunited with her Shoshone chief brother – made them all allies.

Clark’s Diary Each group will get a primary source drawing. In your group, read the description and discuss the story behind the picture – what would Clark have written in his journal? When I say so, you will each write your own journal entry as Clark, detailing the events that happened in the drawing. Use key words from the description in your entry.
