Project Details Osteoarthritis in Newfoundland and Labrador: An examination of prevalence, incidence, comorbidity, financial burden and accessibility to care SUPERVISORY COMMITTEE Dr. Peter Wang, MD, PhD Dr. James Valcour, PhD Dr. Kris Aubrey-Bassler, MD Dr. Zhiwei Gao, MD, PhD

Objectives Examine trends in, and map the geographic distribution of incidence and prevalence of OA throughout NL Assess the suitability of using provincial administrative databases for OA surveillance and identify areas of the province not covered by this data Examine the types/costs of hospital services and comorbidity burden for OA inpatients compared to the general hospitalized population in NL; investigate the financial impact of OA-related comorbidity

Objectives Determine the geographic distribution of OA treatment/management services in NL (i.e., family physicians, hospitals/clinics, rheumatologists, orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, fitness facilities) and determine areas that have inadequate access to these services
