Welcome to the 2009 League Officers Workshop Hosted by Greater Birmingham USBC

President’s Duties The President is the League’s Chief Executive Arranging an account to be opened in the league’s name The account must have at least two league officers’ signatures for all fund withdrawals Scheduling league meetings at convenient times and locations Appoint a prize committee and an auditing committee, as well as any other committees needed during the season Arrange to have the prize committee submit one or more prize lists by the 5th week

President’s Duties Enforcing all league rules and USBC playing rules Personally verify the league’s bank balance monthly (Sample worksheet is attached) If the account is found to be short, the president must report the shortage immediately to USBC Headquarters for possible action under the bonding insurance policy

Vice President’s Duties Lead in the President’s absence Assist the President as requested

Secretary/Treasurer’s Duties The Secretary has many important responsibilities, which are outlined fully in the USBC Playing Rules book Will list a few of them

Secretary/Treasurer’s Duties Distributing a copy of the league rules, and approved prize list to each team captain and board member Collecting membership dues and completed membership applications from each bowler Forwarding the completed membership applications, membership dues and USBC League Application to your local Association Manager within 30 days of the start of your league Reporting and submitting applications for all awards within 20 days

Secretary/Treasurer’s Duties Notify league members of league and association meetings Turning in season-ending averages to your local Association Manager This list must show the full names and ID numbers of all bowlers who competed in the league, the number of games bowled, total pinfall and average for each bowler Depositing funds in the league’s account within 7 days of receipt Collecting league fees each session and paying the bowling center

Secretary/Treasurer’s Duties Advising the league president if any league members are delinquent in paying league fees Providing each team with a detailed financial statement at end of league schedule Giving financial reports on request by the league president or board

Sergeant-at-Arms Shall perform such duties as may be required by the president or the board of directors Making sure all league meetings are ran accordingly

Team Captains Collecting USBC membership dues and league fees from team members, and forwarding them to the league secretary-treasurer The teams’ conduct and attendance Recording the scores, signing the score sheet and securing the opposing team captain’s signature

League’s Board of Directors The Board of Directors shall consist of the officers and team captains A captain may name another team member to act as the team representative at board of director’s meetings Each member of the board is entitled to one vote A majority of the members of the board constitutes a quorum for the transaction of business, unless otherwise stated in the league rules The League’s Board of Directors shall elect the officers unless the league rules vest this authority in the general league membership

League’s Board of Directors Making decisions on all matters arising in the league A vacancy in any office shall be filled by the Board of Directors Deciding all protests involving USBC or league rules The decision of the league’s board is final unless an appeal is made under the provisions of Rule 119.

Adult Awards 300 Series ( 80 avg or less) 400 Series (105 avg or less) All of the above awards are magnets

AWARDS The following awards are no longer issued by USBC 7-10 Split Big Four Split All-Spare Game Triplicate Dutch 200 Game 75 over average game award 150 over average series award

Local Awards 180 Game with an average of 140 or less 600 Series with an average of 175 or less Small plaque is issued for the above

Local Awards 290-299 Game 300 Game 700 Series 800 Series Large plaque is issued for the above All awards are ONCE IN A LIFETIME 700 Series, you may wait until the end of the season to receive the highest series

All City Teams Please be aware that your league bowlers depend on you (Secretaries) to send vital information to the Association Manager A bowler could very well miss out on making the All City Teams if you do not report all awards earned in a timely manner Bowlers making the All City Teams do receive shirts

All City Teams Men’s All City Qualifications: League Average (54 games or more) 1 point for every league w/h an avg of 210-214 2 points for every league w/h an avg 215-219 3 points for every league w/h and avg 220 & above Multiple Center Participation 2 points for averaging over 210 in two or more centers Honor Scores 1 point for every 298, 299 or 11 in a row game 2 points for every 300 game 3 points for every 800 series

Men’s All City Qualifications City Open Championship Tournament 1 point for 3rd place scratch 2 points for 2nd place scratch 3 points for 1st place scratch The above is for any event, If you place in more than one of the above categories for the same event, you will be awarded only the highest points available Only honor scores & averages bowled in the Greater Birmingham USBC events qualify

Women’s All City League Average (based on 54 games) Honor Scores 1 point for averaging 190-199 2 points for averaging 200-209 3 points for averaging 210 & above Honor Scores 1 point for 11 in a row 1 point for 700-729 2 points 298-299 2 points 730-769 3 points 300 3 points 770-799 5 points 800 & above

Women’s All City Women’s City Tournament 1 point for 3rd place 2 points for 2nd place 3 points for 1st place The above apply to all events If you place in more than one of the above categories for the same event, you will be awarded only the highest points available The 8 women making the All City team also receive a paid entry into the following year’s tournament Only honor scores & averages bowled in the Greater Birmingham USBC events qualify

Youth All City Teams There will be two (2) All City Youth Teams. These two teams will be made up of the top eight (8) highest averages regardless of age and/or sex. The bowler must have at least 54 games bowled in a certified league The 8 Youth making the All City Teams receive a paid entry into the following year’s tournament

To be held at Lightning Strikes November 7-8 & 14-15 Deadline – October 26th 4th Annual GBUSBC Generation Gap Tournament 4th Annual GBUSBC Mixed Couples Tournament To be held at Vestavia Lanes December 5-6 & 12-13 Deadline – November 27th

Local Tournaments 4th Annual GBUSBC Youth City Championship Tournament To be held at Riverview Lanes January 9-10 & 16-17 Deadline – January 1st 4th Annual GBUSBC Women’s Championship City Tournament 4th Annual GBUSBC Open City Championship Tournament To be held at Super Bowl January 23-24 & 30-31 February 6-7 Deadline – January 15th Birmingham/Tuscaloosa Youth Pepsi Sectional Tournament To be held at Oak Mountain Lanes February 20-21 Deadline – February 2nd

Youth Membership $5.00 (USBC Youth Basic Membership) 2 different types of league memberships $5.00 (USBC Youth Basic Membership) Bowl 12 sessions or less One issue of US Youth Bowler USBC recognized average The ability to participate in USBC certified tournaments Earn league award emblems only

Youth Membership $17.00 (USBC Youth Standard Membership) Four issues of US Youth Bowler USBC Youth Jersey USBC recognized average USBC Youth Awards Program League Award Emblems Ability to participate in USBC certified tournaments
