Personal Academic Coaching What’s that?

Personal Academic Coaching (PAC). The purpose of PAC is to help you remain successful through a rich conversation about your Academic and Professional Progress on all aspects of the Course For Year 1 / Level 4 and Year 0 / Foundation Level students there will be three meetings per year: At Induction as a group you will be assigned a Personal Academic Coach (PAC!)– this will be a member of academic staff from your course. Here you can raise any initial issues. Before Christmas an individual 20/30 minute conversation with your PAC about your progress so far, and how you can plan for success. In term 2 another individual meeting to reflect on your achievements so far and consider ways forward. Your PAC will confirm dates and times of your meetings following induction. The content of discussions may vary depending on your current level (or year) of study. The discussion will include your progress and engagement on the course so far – e.g. a discussion generally around how it’s going, any grades or feedback you have received, your attendance, any additional support you may feel you need with certain modules etc.

Expectations What your Personal Academic Coach can expect from you:- To turn up to the scheduled meeting. To have had a think about, and bring along any ideas you may have, that you feel you would like to discuss further, including any grades, feedback and comments you may have had so far. To plan your next steps in your course journey with them What you can expect from your PAC: Open and honest discussion regarding all aspects of your Course and your progress Help in formulating your own solutions to any issues Referral to the appropriate specialist support in advice, finance, medical departments if needed. You and or your Coach will make notes during the meeting. These will be shared between you and then reviewed in subsequent meetings.
