IEEE Educational Activities 2016 Mini-Series Goals & Objectives 12/8/2018

Key components of realizing our potential: IEEE brand has long had potential in Education, but we have not yet fully realized our potential Key components of realizing our potential: PRIORITIZED Strategic and Tactical plan (e.g. over 5 years) - Driven by consistently updated market intelligence - Generating revenues to fund growth and public imperatives Improved partnering: internal to IEEE, and externally Clear plan for how EA fits into the IEEE Public Imperative strategy Significant improvements to quality and operations Significant improvements to user interfaces and marketing efforts Creating rewarding experiences for EA volunteers 12/8/2018

Mini-Series Primary Objective 12/8/2018 Mini-Series Primary Objective Develop the foundation of a prioritized tactical plan that will allow us to achieve the objectives in our strategic vision

Focus question for the week - to be used by all groups 12/8/2018 Focus question for the week - to be used by all groups What activities does IEEE Educational Activities need to prioritize to deliver great levels of satisfaction to our end users in a financially sustainable way?

A brief explanation of MoSCoW Our prioritization approach for the Mini-Series Week 12/8/2018

12/8/2018 What is MoSCoW? Technique used to reach a common understanding of importance in the delivery of requirements

12/8/2018 MoSCoW : M = MUST have What activities MUST we undertake in order to meet our objective? The bar for a “MUST”: If we don’t do this, we will not be successful

12/8/2018 MoSCoW : S = SHOULD have Important to the achieving objective, but not vital Painful to leave out, but still viable More painful if left out than a “Could”

MoSCoW : C = COULD have Desirable or wanted, but less important 12/8/2018 MoSCoW : C = COULD have Desirable or wanted, but less important Delivered in a best case scenario Less impact if left out vs. a “Should”

MoSCoW : W= Won’t have at this time 12/8/2018 MoSCoW : W= Won’t have at this time Won’t happen in the near term Recorded so they can be included in future planning Sets expectations for stakeholders that some activities may not be done

Our process at the Mini-Series 12/8/2018 Our process at the Mini-Series Identify activities we can undertake to answer our primary objective question Define whether each activity is a Must, Should, Could, or Won’t at this time Rank order 1-X of the Musts & Should
