Unit 3 - A Digital Portfolio Collecting and organising your assets Unit 3 - A Digital Portfolio

Today Assets What do you need? How will you organise them?

File structure Lets design a structure:

Extracts – prepare in Word I have been League Secretary for the Herefordshire Squash League since 2010. I had previously held the role during the 1990s leaving that role to become County Secretary before resigning that role due to work commitments. The role involves…

Images, videos, sound files More than you will use. Edit the movie and sound files Make sure they are relevant Select only the best What format should they be in?

Folder structure Create a folder structure to store the portfolio content files and the web pages, add content to these folders. Create an index detailing the assets and where they are.

Content fit for purpose Ensure that all content is fit for purpose and is in appropriate file formats, such as .pdf, .html, .jpg and .mp3. It is essential that all content can be viewed on different systems using freely available software. At this stage text extracts may be in word documents to allow spell-checking.

Sensible names Each item of content should be given an appropriate name which clearly indicates what it is (e.g. SquashcoachingGCSE.mp4 not video1.mpg).

Logical folder structure Ensure that your folder structure is logical and clear. Document any changes on your index, explaining why you have made them. .

Range of extracts Prepare a range of extracts which give a good overview of your achievements Think about the intended audience for your portfolio; select suitable content from your work which will impress this audience. Make notes on your index which explain why you have selected some pieces and discarded others

Task U3A2P1 Prepare assets Index Folder structure Sensible names Range of extracts, images, videos sound files Fit for purpose using appropriate formats - text extracts may be in word documents At the end of today submit your index to Turnitin U3A2P1
