Adaptations of pond organisms 1) To study pond organisms and identify adaptations to help them survive in a pond environment.

Terrestrial frog

Stick Insect

Caterpillar

Moth

Leaf tailed gecko

Peppered moth

Assignment Scenario Jake works for Severn Trent water. Part of his job is to monitor the quality of water in local rivers by recording the diversity of living organisms. Any changes, for example due to pollution, disease, lack of food, may affect the food chains or food webs. By noticing these changes he will be able to identify species which may need protecting.

Assignment Task 1 For your assignment choose three pond organisms from the next slide and research the adaptations they have to enable them to live in the pond. Present this in the form of an annotated diagram. For Example: Pond Skater

Choose 3 from this list to draw and label for your assignment

Assignment Task 2 Construct a food web to demonstrate interdependence between organisms Look at food webs on the internet for inspiration. Make a list of 10 organisms in rough Make your food web in neat (check arrow direction!) 11
