ATP Analogy… Food (like glucose) is like: ATP is like: The $5 bill you have in your pocket when you want a candy bar from a vending machine. The ATP – ADP Cycle: ATP: Adenosine Tri-Phosphate The phosphate is “recycled” & used to “recharge an ADP molecule to make ATP Energy released from Phosphate breaking off… Energy is stored in the bonds. You can also think of ATP as a rechargeable battery: Using ATP runs down the “battery” by taking away a phosphate.
