How to Speak Shakespeare

Modern Enlgish There are three stages to the English language. Early Middle Modern Modern English started in about the same time the renaissance was taking place We still speak it today

Thy/Thine Your Thy is before a word that starts with a consonate Thine is before a word that starts with a vowel Thy boyrfriend/girlfriend is very good looking To thine own self be true

Rule of Contraction Shakespeare wrote in a specific style and rhythem and in order to do so sometime he needed to shorten words Ne’er = never I’= in ‘t= it ‘t were = it were ‘btween = between Whe’er = whatever

He would also combine words ‘tis = it is ‘twas = it was ‘twere = it were
