Daily Learning Target: I can compose an On-Demand essay. Monday, February 11, 2013 Daily Learning Target: I can compose an On-Demand essay.

Bell Ringer Write true or false. On-Demand is an optional assessment that English II students will take in May. All prompts on the On-Demand assessment are narrative. The passage based portion is 90 minutes. The stand alone portion is 40 minutes. The On-Demand is no big deal and it doesn’t matter how I score. The assessment is scored using a 4 point rubric.

Essay Read the section titled “Writing situation” first. Underline key words. Then read the “Writing directions”. What is the prompt asking you to do? What is the purpose of the task? Who is the audience? Read “Temperance and Choices”. Make notes. Write essay.

Essay Paragraph 1: Introduction- (hook and thesis) Paragraph 2: Claim 1 (claim, evidence, and commentary) Paragraph 3: Claim 2 (claim, evidence, and commentary) Paragraph 4: Claim 3 (claim, evidence, and commentary) Paragraph 5: Conclusion- (sum up and repeat thesis)
