10th English Friday, 31 Jan. 2014 Agenda: Review Presentation Expectations 3 Minutes to Plan with Group Begin Group Presentations Homework: Media-Free Challenge: see how long you can go without any media – no internet, no t.v., no music, no video games, no radio, no newspapers/magazines, no movies, etc.

Learning Targets: I can define the 5 core concepts of media literacy. I can explain how presenter’s visuals exemplify each concept. I can recall an example of each media literacy concept.

5 Core Concepts of Media Literacy: Presentation Expectations: Everyone from the small group should come up to the front of the room. Each partnership should present their one part of the assignment: (hence, all should speak) Introduce and explain the concept Show your visual and explain it Perform visual. Then explain how it demonstrates the concept.

5 Core Concepts Groups: 1. All media are constructions. 2. Media use unique languages. 3. Different audiences understand the same media message differently. 4. Media have commercial interests. 5. Media have embedded values and points of view.
