II. Function a. Main purpose The workers of this section perform their duties have more guest contact than any other section or department. None of the job is complex but their functions are important, since member of Porter are first to greet and the last contact the hotel guest. The responsible of Porter Service is handling guest luggage. The other function of Porter is the closest partner with other section in FO Department for taking care of guest, and also delivers internal communication

b. Outline of function Handling luggage: check in, check out, room change b. Handling mail and key : incoming and outcoming mail must be storedfirst then delivered or sent out to Post, recieve, keep key for and from guest

Cont’d c. Handling message and paging : for the urgent mail to guest this clerk should paged guest d. Handling telephone : subtified Night Teleponist e. Handling transportation: some hotel assigns their member to handle transportation but just sight seeing

Handling information: this work actually undertaken by Information clerck / Reception but there is deferent portion such as local facilities, entertainment, tourist destination, ccommodation outside the locality, time of public transportation g. Running errands : thier job include running errands (delevering message, goods)

c. Important of contact with guest The working area of Porter is lobby. This is an important guest contact area. Porter member maybe the first person to greet arriving guest and the one who attends to their departure, such as a. Helping and Escorting b. Making Appointment
