FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR Introduction of SPS May, 2000 PDD Analog Product Marketing Good afternoon everyone. My name is “Sangtae-Im” and I am in charge of SPS product line as product marketer. Above all I am glad to give you the presentation on SPS products. Now I will introduce SPS about basic concept, internal functions, and line up states for SPS Also I will introduce several applications using SPS solution. And finally I will present benchmarking data to you. If you have any questions during my presentation, please feel free to ask a question any time.

Introduction of SPS  The new approach for off-line SMPS ; to make the set simple and compact with low cost !! SMPS Cost Down 1Package Product Basically, SPS is consist of two chips in one package. It means one MOSFET and one PWM IC are housed in same package. And we call this kind of solution 2chip 1pkg solution. This 1pkg solution is well coincident with modern technical trends to design SMPS. Because the main technical trend in SMPS is to make the power supply more compact and simple with low cost. And to make compact and simple SMPS, the number of external parts has to be minimized. In this point, the SPS is strong solution for off line SMPS. Also the internal PWM IC has various protection functions by itself. So SPS solution would make high reliability, high productivity for SMPS MOSFET PWM IC External Devices Additional Functions
