Biometrics Based on the previous slide, it is the combination of the points selected during scanning that create the mathematical algorithm which is stored against the pupils unique identifier in SIMS. The sensitivity of the biometric template can also be reduced so if a child is having difficulty in being recognised by the reader then the system can be altered to reduce the number of points which have to be checked in order for the child to be identified. For example, instead of matching 7 points, only 5 could be used. There is no actual image / picture of the child’s fingerprint. Full documentation and background will be provided as part of the project.
