Imperialism in Africa Emily Hamlin

Before Imperialism Before this picture was taken in Africa, there were many ethnics and languages, there were traditional religions like Islam, and Christianity. Africans controlled trade. The imperialist power was Europe. The imperial motive was Europe not caring about the land.

What the picture shows This picture shows the mistreatment of the African natives when Europe invaded their land. The effects of mistreatment of natives.

After Imperialism Area by area the natives started to fight back in an effort to regain control of their lands. The end result.

Before Imperialism Before this picture was taken, rules were made that it was illegal to cover their chest with their hands. The kids are upset with the rules made.

What the picture shows This picture shows girls making baskets with the tools that were made from export. Most of the things women made were used to sell to other countries.

After Imperialism The women proceeded to disobey the law and cover their chests. They were still forced to make goods and were really used to trading with foreign countries. The women as well as children didn’t change the position they placed their hands.
