Forestfireprotection

Conflagration Conflagration is destructive and uncontrolled fire. In forests are three main types: Sub-surface conflagration Soil covers conflagration Total Conflagration

What is the cause of the fire in forest? It is very important to say that people are responsible for most of the fires in forest. The most common cause is making campfires in forbidden places and burning meadows

Prevention In order to prevent fires, humidity measurements are carried out. Such actions are aimed at early detection of the threat. Based on these measurements, a fire risk forecast for the country is established. If the forest is too dry, the forester may forbid entrance into the forest.

Traces after a fire on the moor–Erhorn, Germany.

We should not create pine ( Pinus silvestris) monocultures, because such stands are more exposed to fire. Solution for that is introduction of deciduous species. The forest fire near Kuźnia Raciborska is an example of the fire of a huge pine complex. It was one of the biggest fires in Europe after World War II. 9,000 hectares of forest were burnt there.

Grass, undergrowth (especially coniferous) cause an increase in burning intensity and fire spread. Mosses and lichens are materials that inhibit the spread of fire. To avoid excessive development of grasses, excessive thinning of forest should be avoided.

It is important to maintain a network of fire roads in the forest to prevent fires. Planting a birch can be a form of fire protection because of its species characteristics.

Fire tower It is a special building whose function is to detect fires in the surrounding woods. Person who works there is known as a "fire lookout" whose duty it is to search for wildfires The observer should be there from spring to autumn.

Water resources To fight with fire we have to have access to water supply. The point of taking water should be well marked.

Firebreak A firebreak is a gap in vegetation or other combustible material that acts as a barrier to slow or stop the progress of a bushfire or wildfire. In Polen are 5 typs of firebreaks: A- by public road B-by factories and parking C-by military compound D-separates big forests BK – by railroad tracks

Specific form of fire protection in Poland Mineralized furrow 2-5m away from the road 30m from the road have been removed all flammable waste

Pas w nadleśnictwie Erhorn (Niemcy) 70 years ago strong chemistry was used to do firebreak. Up to now vegetation on this area is very weak.

All these actions are aimed at protecting forests against fire All these actions are aimed at protecting forests against fire. We are convinced that it is definitely better to prevent it, so it is important to focus on prevention.
