What do the Olympic Rings symbolize?

The five interlocking rings represent the five continents of the world (North and South Americas are considered as one, along with Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia). The colours were introduced by the father of the modern Olympic Games, Pierre de Coubertin, in 1912 to represent each and every colour that appeared on the flags of the competing nations (at that time).

Have a special day, Winona
