PIPE LIFTING KIT HAMMER MULETRAX 2300 C In 2012, the Pipeline Industry has been very depressed. It looked like the world would come to an end. Many companies went out of business. To react to this downturn, we have tripled our efforts. We are now proud to present three new and innovative products that we have added to our product range last year ! PIPE LIFTING KIT HAMMER MULETRAX 2300 C

Grub & Hammer Crushing Machines

Background Ground conditions during pipeline construction can vary greatly. In order to perform to perform efficiently and effectively, contractors adapt their construction techniques by using different types of machinery. One of the most critical operations is the “padding” of the pipe. Padding is needed to protect the pipe and its coating from soil and rock which could damage their integrity, causing premature pipeline failures.

Technology is helping clients and contractors to look for the best soil conditions when determining pipeline route, but even the most advanced technologies are limited when assessing soil conditions at 3 meters deep, over thousands of Kilometers. So, in spite of detailed up-front assessments along the pipeline before construction begins, often contractors find unexpected “surprises” during actual construction. Rock, mud, sand, are some of the soil conditions that pipeline contractors need to face. When unexpected conditions arise, this will cause delays in construction and a surge in construction costs. Over the years, specialized machines have been developed to allow contractors perform digging, laying and covering-up in the most efficient way.

Problem & Opportunity Backfilling is particularly critical for ensuring the integrity of the pipe and of its coating. Clients normally impose a stingent specifications on the granulometry of material that comes in contact with the pipeline. Contractors meets these specs by either: Purchasing sand from nearby sand quarries. This solution however implies considerable transportation and logistical costs. Producing the required granulometry «on site». The second solution is, in many situations, the most practical and economical.

The Concept What happens when soil is predominantly rocky, and material dug from the trench does not meet the granulometry required by client’s specs ? Mobile crushers have existed for a long time, but mainly for static operations in quarries. This is the reason why Laurini has developed crushing machines, specifically designed for pipeline operations.

Use of the Grub Due to its design, the operator can control it while remaining in a safe position. It is available in three widths (1.2, 1.4 and 1.8 meters) to best adapt to trench size. The Grub series is a self-moving, radio-controlled crusher, which is designed to work inside the trench. The Grub crushes material at the bottom of the trench, leaving a layer of crushed and fine material, ideal as “bedding” for the pipe. This machine was developed in 1996 and is covered by a world-wide Patent. It has been very successful on jobsites for its efficiency (high production and low costs) and safety (it does not occupy the right of way). And now … The Hammer ! The Hummer is our latest innovation as a Crushing and Padding machine for pipeline construction. It leverages all our experience in terms of crushing and of padding, used not only on the Grub, but also on the Vulcano. The Hummer works alongside the trench and its hopper is filled by a hydraulic excavator. Material is fed, thru a steel conveyor, to a crushing mill, specifically designed for this application. Crushed, fine material falls on a rubber conveyor belt, which drops the fines on top of the pipe. Size of particles used for padding can change by adjusting the bar screen. Hammer Main Features One of the key features of the Hammer is easy maintenance of its crushing mill. An armoured plate moved by two hydraulic cylinders allows easy access to the rotating drums, for inspection or replacement of the hammers.

Summary of Benefits Avoids purchasing of sand from nearby quarries (how near are they?) Eliminates additional trucks on the right-of-way. With a production of 150 m3/h this would require at least 10 additional trucks per hour on the road By crushing all material coming from the trench, it avoids the need for disposing of large stones during the backfill and soil reconditioning operations.
