Similes Similes compare two things using the words “like” or “as.” Sometimes they make sense, sometimes they can be tricky. I have been working like a dog! As white as snow As light as a feather Fight like cats and dogs Free as a bird
The highway was a parking lot. Metaphors Metaphors compare two things by saying one thing is another thing. Metaphors do NOT use “like” or “as.” The cat is a shadow. My brother is a chicken. My teacher is a dragon. The highway was a parking lot.
