Warm-up, 3/26 (week ending 3/30) Please have your agenda placed on the corner of your desk Why do you think the Japanese call their islands the “Land of the Rising Sun?” Answer: because it seems the sun rises from Japan, and then spreads across the rest of Asia Today’s Learning Target: Explain the role of the United States in the rebuilding of Japan after WWII.

The US & Britain wanted to spread democracy and a free market economy in Europe; but the USSR wanted to spread communism and a command economy in Europe. Today’s Learning Target: Explain the reasons for foreign involvement in Korea regarding the containment of communism.
