Making topographical Maps lab worksheet

Making Topographical Maps Lab 1. If each water line in your landform model represents 25 meters, what is The contour interval for your topographic map? An estimated height of the top of the hill? The contour interval for the topographic map is 25 meters. The estimated height for the top of the hill is 150 meters.

Making Topographical Maps Lab 2. What does your topographical map show you about the land? 3. What does your topographical map not show you about the land? The topographic map shows the topography, including the elevation, slope and relief of the land. The topographic map does not show the temperature, plants or animals living on the landform.

Making Topographical Maps Lab X Z Y

Making Topographical Maps Lab The landform is a hill. B A

BOOMTOWN’S TOPOGRAPHY

Objective Students will be able to examine topographical maps from different time periods and identify evidence about changes in the shape of the land

What is Stability? The quality or state of something that is not easily changed or not easily moved Land Stability: An area’s ability to resist change over time

Why Does Stability Matter? Failing to consider land stability when planning to build on that land could cause harm to human health, local property and associated infrastructure, and the wider environment.

Land Stability Examples Consider the Before and After pictures of a mountainside over 100 years. Would this area be considered stable? Why or why not? Would you build homes here? Why or why not?

Land Stability Examples Would this area be considered stable? Why or why not? Would you build homes here? Why or why not?
