IEEE 802.11 TGh Overview Mika Kasslin TGh Chair March 2001 Mika Kasslin, Nokia

Scope and purpose (PAR) March 2001 Scope and purpose (PAR) We are allowed to enhance both 802.11 MAC and 802.11a PHY add indoor and outdoor channel selection for 5GHz license exempt bands in Europe add channel energy measurement and reporting mechanisms to improve spectrum and transmit power management The purpose: enable regulatory acceptance of 802.11 5GHz products provide improvements in channel energy measurement and reporting, channel coverage in many regulatory domains, and provide Dynamic Channel Selection and Transmit Power Control mechanisms Mika Kasslin, Nokia

Two aspects Regulatory requirements: 802.11 internal features: March 2001 Two aspects Regulatory requirements: ERC/DEC/(99)23 Radio Conformance Test Specification (Harmonized EN covering essential requirements) 802.11 internal features: System maintenance support autonomous frequency selection system scaling etc. Mika Kasslin, Nokia
