Letterland: Unit Seventeen Learner Profile of the Month: Balanced Mrs. Stone’s Class Classroom Newsletter February 6, 2016 Dates to Remember What Are We Learning? Feb. 6th—Day 3 (Music) Feb. 7th—Day 4 (Computers) Feb. 8th—Day 1 (PE) 100th Day of School $1 Hat Day for Epilepsy Feb. 9th—Day 2 (Spanish, Art, Library) Feb. 10th– Day 3 (Music) ***Last day to turn in money for the Mother/Best Gal/Son Bowling Evening*** Thank you!!! Thank you to everyone who has signed up to help us with our snacks, crafts, and activities for Valentine’s Day, 100th Day, and St. Patrick’s Day! We truly appreciate it! I will send an email to the donors that signed up with the items we need for Wednesday’s 100th day. Money We are still receiving money that is not placed in a baggie or envelope and properly marked. PLEASE put you child’s name, my name, what it is for, and LUNCH NUMBER (found as student ID on the first page of your child’s take home folder) if it is for lunch. We are extremely busy first thing in the morning, and this takes a lot of extra searching/inquiring as to what the money is for. A lot of times the children want to use the money for the school store or have no idea what it’s for. Thank you so much for your help and cooperation. Math – (1.MD.4a) I can collect data. (1.MD.4b) I can organize data. (1.MD.4c) I can compare data. ELA – (1.RF. G3) I can identify and read words that don’t have a spelling rule. (1.SL.1b) I can add to conversation by responding to the comments of others through multiple exchanges. Social Studies – (1.C.1.2) I can read about different cultures through various genres. I can learn about diverse cultures through art and music. Letterland: Unit Seventeen Students will learn words with silent magic e and Mr. I and Mr. O. If you lose your list, you can always go to our class webpage and print a new list. It will take you Ms. Layne’s page, but the list is linked there. Listening is Key Over the last few weeks, we have noticed that the students are more chatty, not listening, and therefore, missing what we are covering in class. The material and pace at which we are coving new material has picked up drastically compared to before Christmas/Winter break!! Please reinforce at home the importance of listening. Listening helps us to learn, follow directions, and be safe. We will buckling down more on behavior in class. During our morning meetings, we will be reviewing our class expectations daily. Learner Profile of the Month: Balanced We understand the importance of balancing different aspects of our lives—intellectual, physical, and emotional—to achieve well-being for ourselves and others. We recognize our interdependence from other people and with the world in which we live. **If you read this newsletter, please send me an email stating “I read it!” There is a small treat awaiting your child!  Mrs. Stephanie Stone Email address: stephanie_stone@iss.k12.nc.us Coddle Creek Elementary School Phone number: 704-439-4077 141 Frank’s Crossing Loop Mooresville, NC 28115 Website: http://iss.k12.nc.us/Domain/5624
