REVIEW OF DIRECTIONS: 1.) Log on to: www.PHSchool.com OR find this on my math website. 2.) There is an “Enter Code” box in upper left hand of screen. 3.) Enter “amd” in 1st box and “3103” in 2nd box and hit Enter. 4.) Click on “Shapes and Designs” 5.) Click on “Tessellations” 6.) Click on “instructions” and read how to move shapes around. (Only ONE on the screen at a time!) Try EACH polygon before making your sketch.) • Paste enough copies of the polygon on the screen to surround one point entirely. Keep it efficient, and ONLY paste enough to surround one chosen point. example: point surrounded

REMEMBER, you CAN NOT choose shape B (square) for A. 1. 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 A. 1. • Once you have decided which of the REGULAR polygons tile, choose one to draw in the space for A 1. Draw enough copies of the polygon to show one point completely surrounded. • PLEASE use your shape sets or page 14 to trace your shapes!! Don’t try to draw freehand.  REMEMBER, you CAN NOT choose shape B (square) for A. 1.

Trace ONE shape in the space for A. 2. for each shape that tiled. • Using your shape set or page 14, place the letter of each shape inside each regular polygon sketch. • Use your flip book or math book and write the name of each polygon below it. Don’t forget to use the most specific name and/or the word ‘regular’ before the polygon’s name. These are special polygons. Square B Example:

3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 B. • Now you are going to make a pattern with 2 or more of the regular polygons above. Choose sets until they tile together in a pattern. • In this case, you need to repeat the pattern a couple of times to make sure what you have completely tiles. Choose what you think makes up the basic pattern, and repeat to tile. • Once you are sure you have a pattern that tiles, trace the basic pattern in the space for part B. Again, use your book or shapes set. Put a letter in at least one of each shape you use.

Find a few different points in your pattern. Do any of those point have a different arrangement that what you wrote for #2 above? If so, explain what is different.

Nice Job! HW: ACE pg. 19-20 #13-16. You will need your shapes set, or use page10 to find and trace the shapes.
