The colony of Georgia was founded by James Edward Oglethorpe The colony of Georgia was founded by James Edward Oglethorpe. Oglethorpe proposed to found a colony in the region disputed between Spanish and British.

Oglethorpe got a concession by King George II in 1732, and in 1733 the first colonists came to the region. In the colony the slavery and the consumption of alcohol would be suppressed.

But Georgia couldn’t grow, and when Oglethorpe left the colony, these restrictions would be deleted.
