How is the SAT important? 2nd most important criteria for college acceptance Gateway to many scholarships, schools w/in universities and honors colleges. For example… Oakland University Merit Scholarships Presidential: full tuition for 4 years ($22,000). GPA min.: 3.9; SAT: 1420 (98%ile) Distinguished Scholar: $4K tuition for 4 yrs ($16,000). GPA Min.: 3.8; SAT: 1280 (89%ile) Talented Scholar: $3K tuition for 4 years ($12,000). GPA min: 3.4; SAT: 1130 (71%ile) University recog.: $1.5K Tuition for 4 years ($6,000). GPA Min: 3.2; SAT 1020 (53%ile) Average UAIS GPA: 3.9; average UAIS SAT: 1308 (91%ile)

How is the SAT important? Honors Colleges… Perks: priority scheduling of classes, housing priority, waiving general requirements, personal academic advisor, No pre-requisite or co-requisite rules, senior thesis research project, option to take graduate classes as undergrad student, honors course with top accepted students, exclusive invites to campus events Sample requirements… Michigan State University Top 5% of class (GPA)  Generally disregarded for UAIS students 32 ACT or 1410 SAT (98%ile) High # of AP/IB classes Extra-curricular activities Community service
