STORYTELLING UNIT: DAY 9 Instructions: Correct the following sentence in the Bell Ringer section of your notebook. Draw a line separating the subject part of the sentence from the predicate. Hint: The predicate contains the verb! Bell Ringer: The brown recluse spider which is a poisonous spider found in the United States have fangs six eyes and a violin-shaped mark on its back. Storytelling Research Story #1 Instructions: Select one of the following stories. Pair-up with someone reading the same story to complete work. The Way Up to Heaven (adapted text available) The Necklace (adapted text available) Desiree’s Baby

Storytelling Research Activities Track Character Development: On the chart provided identify: A significant event and plot location The way your character changes as a result Evidence of the character’s change (quote) Identify how the author creates suspense in a cause-and-effect foldable Fold paper in half lengthwise. Label left side “Cause” and right side “Effect” For “Effect”, identify the impact on the reader (Makes reader nervous, anxious, read faster, etc.)

Identify a universal topic found in both. Explain how the topic is developed in each work. Comment on concerns this raises for our culture/society. One-page maximum.
