Main Idea, Topic, and Theme Which is which?

Main idea, topic, or theme? Entertainment In a dystopian world, a girl sacrifices herself to save her sister and volunteers to participate in a deadly competition that the government forces on its citizens. If a society’s entertainment is focused on violence, then human life is devalued. Main idea, topic, or theme?

A MAIN IDEA tells what the text is mostly about and gives specific information about events, characters, and/or plot.

A TOPIC is a subject or idea dealt with in the text and is usually one word.

A THEME is the message an author is sending through a text.
