What is CUA’s Oxford Honors Program? New semester program started Fall 2009 offered through CUAbroad and arranged in Oxford through the Oxford Undergraduate Programme (OPUS) Allows top CUA students (undergrad & grad) to experience Oxford academic life through its unique tutorial system (one-on-one with Oxford instructors)

Eligibility Requirements Open to CUA students in good academic and disciplinary standing Undergraduate students must have completed 45 credits and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above Graduate students must have completed a semester at CUA and have a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or above

Program Overview Spring 2010 program dates: January 6 – April 9, 2010. Independent travel week: March 13-20, 2010. Undergraduates receive a total of 15 credits (12 credits for Hilary term individual tutorials & 3 credits for small group tutorials) Graduate students receive a total of 9 credits (6 credits for Hilary individual tutorials & 3 credits for small group tutorials) Hilary term individual tutorials to be chosen from limited selection of topics in liberal arts/social sciences (see website) and small group tutorials options include Shakespeare, C.S Lewis or British Politics.

What are Tutorials? Tutorials are a system of learning that is unique to Oxford & Cambridge Students are placed with an Oxford tutor (term for Oxford professor) and study a specific pre-approved topic on a one-on-one basis Students will meet once a week with their Oxford tutor and present a paper on a weekly basis for each tutorial (2 papers/week) Students will be reading, researching and writing when they are not meeting with their tutor The list of available tutorial topics is available at: http://www.oxfordprogram.com/Program/listings.html

Oxford Housing Students will live in Oxford student housing (single rooms, shared kitchen, lounge & bathrooms) Student housing has different grades to choose from (standard or superior which has added cost) All student housing have furnishing, linen & utensils. House phone included. Most properties have a printer & house computer but you must bring a personal laptop (wireless internet available from homes at extra cost) OPUS is on location to deal with housing & academic issues

What is OPUS? The Oxford Programme for Undergraduate Studies (OPUS) is the local program that arranges the tutorials and housing The OPUS Director is Mr. Deepak Mukhi, MA (Cantab) and he will oversee all areas of the program on location and will organize an in-country orientation upon arrival The OPUS website is available at: http://www.oxfordprogram.com/About/

Oxford academic integration CUA students will be fully integrated into the Oxford academic life: CUA students will work with Oxford tutorials & produce two weekly papers CUA students will be affiliated with an Oxford college (enjoy college library, dining services, sports) CUA students will be housed with non-CUA students (both USA and British students)

CUA Oxford Program Cost The Oxford Honors program costs CUA tuition plus a $5,000 program fee to cover overseas costs. A non-refundable $100 application fee is additional. Financial aid (including loans and CUA aid) is applicable so please check in with Financial Aid early to apply early Additional costs not included in the program – airfare, meals, books and travel/personal expenses (see cost sheet)

Application Process Complete the CUAbroad online application Submit your $100 non-refundable application fee Submit additional application materials (see website) Turn in a complete application package Application deadline is October 16, 2009. Late or incomplete applications will NOT be accepted Your application will be reviewed and you will be called in for a brief interview with CUA selection committee You will be notified of your acceptance status by early November
