Primary and Secondary Sources Primary Source-information directly from a person who experienced an event Person writes, says or creates an event Examples: letters, diaries, articles, posters, speeches, photographs (artifacts-object made by a human being) Secondary Source-information about an event that does not come from a person who experienced that event. Example: If I tell you about John F. Kennedy’s assassination.

Evaluating Historical Sources Historical sources are not always accurate Which do you think could be least accurate? Primary or Secondary source? Why? When evaluating sources, ASK!
